Delicious and spooky Bleeding Black Cupcakes perfect for Halloween celebrations.


Ingredients

  • 1 box chocolate cake mix (plus ingredients listed on the box)
  • Black gel food coloring (optional, for darker effect)
  • ½ cup raspberry or strawberry jam
  • Red gel food coloring (optional)
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 3 cups powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 23 tablespoons milk
  • Black food coloring
  • Red gel icing for ‘blood’ drizzle (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a muffin tin with cupcake liners.
  2. Prepare chocolate cake mix according to the box directions, adding black gel food coloring if desired.
  3. Fill liners 2/3 full and bake 18–20 minutes. Let cool completely.
  4. Stir a few drops of red food coloring into the jam. Fill a piping bag with the jam.
  5. Cut a small hole in the center of each cupcake and fill with jam.
  6. Beat butter until fluffy. Add powdered sugar, cocoa powder, vanilla, and milk gradually. Tint with black food coloring.
  7. Frost cupcakes and drizzle with red gel for a bleeding effect.
