  • 1 pound fresh green beans, trimmed and cut into 2-inch pieces
  • 1 cup sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 1 cup cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup beer (lager or pale ale)
  • 1 cup French fried onions
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F.
  2. In a large pot of boiling salted water, blanch the green beans for 3-4 minutes until bright green and slightly tender. Drain and immediately transfer to a bowl of ice water to stop the cooking process. After a few minutes, drain the beans again and set aside.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, beer, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper. Whisk until smooth and well combined.
  4. Stir in the shredded cheddar cheese and blanched green beans until evenly coated.
  5. Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish with olive oil. Pour the green bean mixture into the dish and spread it out evenly. Top with French fried onions.
  6. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the casserole is bubbly and the onions are golden brown.
  7. Let it cool for about 5 minutes before serving.

Notes

  • For a spicier kick, add 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper to the cheese mixture.
