Description
Delicious Beef Tongue Tacos served with fresh toppings and a zesty lime.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 pounds beef tongue
- 1 tablespoon salt
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 cup diced onions
- 1 cup diced tomatoes
- 1/2 cup chopped cilantro
- 1 lime, cut into wedges
- Optional toppings: sliced avocado, sour cream, or shredded cheese
Instructions
- Rinse the beef tongue under cold water and place it in a large pot. Cover with water and add salt. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for about 2 to 3 hours, or until the tongue is tender.
- Once cooked, remove the tongue from the pot and let it cool slightly. Peel off the outer skin and slice the tongue into thin strips.
- In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the sliced tongue and season with black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Sauté for about 5 minutes until heated through and slightly crispy.
- To assemble the tacos, place a few strips of beef tongue on a plate and top with diced onions, tomatoes, and cilantro. Serve with lime wedges on the side.
- Enjoy your tacos with optional toppings like sliced avocado, sour cream, or shredded cheese if desired.
Notes
- For a spicier kick, add diced jalapeños or a dash of hot sauce to the toppings.
- Try using different herbs like parsley or green onions for a fresh twist on the flavor.
