A delicious Beef Taco Pie with a masa crust, perfect for a flavorful twist on traditional tacos.

- 2 cups masa harina
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 cup vegetable oil
- 3/4 cup warm water
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 small onion, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 packet taco seasoning (about 1 ounce)
- 1 can (15 ounces) black beans, drained and rinsed
- 1 cup corn (fresh, frozen, or canned)
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 cup salsa
- 1/4 cup chopped fresh cilantro (optional)
- Sour cream and sliced jalapeños for serving (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 9-inch pie dish with cooking spray or oil.
- In a mixing bowl, combine masa harina, baking powder, and salt. Add vegetable oil and warm water, mixing until a soft dough forms. If the dough is too dry, add a little more water, one tablespoon at a time.
- Press the masa dough evenly into the bottom and up the sides of the prepared pie dish to form the crust. Use a fork to poke holes in the bottom to prevent bubbling.
- In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef, onion, and garlic until the beef is browned and the onion is translucent, about 5-7 minutes. Drain excess fat.
- Stir in the taco seasoning, black beans, and corn. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes until heated through.
- Pour the beef mixture into the masa crust, spreading it evenly. Top with salsa and shredded cheddar cheese.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Remove from the oven and let cool for 5-10 minutes. Garnish with chopped cilantro if desired. Slice and serve with sour cream and jalapeños, if using.
Notes
- For a spicier kick, add diced jalapeños or a few dashes of hot sauce to the beef mixture.
- Substitute ground turkey or chicken for a leaner option, or use a plant-based meat alternative for a vegetarian version.
