Description

A delicious and hearty Beef Bolognese served with linguine, perfect for a flavorful dinner.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 carrot, finely chopped
  • 1 celery stalk, finely chopped
  • 1 can (28 ounces) crushed tomatoes
  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 pound linguine
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • Fresh basil leaves for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion, carrot, and celery. Sauté for about 5 minutes until the vegetables are softened.
  2. Add the minced garlic and cook for an additional minute until fragrant.
  3. Increase the heat to medium-high and add the ground beef. Cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spoon, about 6-8 minutes. Drain excess fat if necessary.
  4. Stir in the crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, oregano, basil, red pepper flakes (if using), salt, and pepper. Bring to a simmer, then reduce the heat to low. Cover and let it simmer for at least 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  5. While the sauce is simmering, cook the linguine according to package instructions in a large pot of salted boiling water until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  6. Once the sauce has thickened, taste and adjust seasoning if needed. Serve the Bolognese sauce over the cooked linguine.
  7. Top with grated Parmesan cheese and garnish with fresh basil leaves if desired.

Notes

  • For a richer flavor, let the sauce simmer for up to 2 hours on low heat.
  • You can also add a splash of red wine to the sauce for depth.
  • For a lighter version, substitute ground turkey or chicken for the beef.
