A delicious and hearty Beef Bolognese served with linguine, perfect for a flavorful dinner.

- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 medium onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 carrot, finely chopped
- 1 celery stalk, finely chopped
- 1 can (28 ounces) crushed tomatoes
- 2 tablespoons tomato paste
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1 teaspoon dried basil
- 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 pound linguine
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- Fresh basil leaves for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion, carrot, and celery. Sauté for about 5 minutes until the vegetables are softened.
- Add the minced garlic and cook for an additional minute until fragrant.
- Increase the heat to medium-high and add the ground beef. Cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spoon, about 6-8 minutes. Drain excess fat if necessary.
- Stir in the crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, oregano, basil, red pepper flakes (if using), salt, and pepper. Bring to a simmer, then reduce the heat to low. Cover and let it simmer for at least 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- While the sauce is simmering, cook the linguine according to package instructions in a large pot of salted boiling water until al dente. Drain and set aside.
- Once the sauce has thickened, taste and adjust seasoning if needed. Serve the Bolognese sauce over the cooked linguine.
- Top with grated Parmesan cheese and garnish with fresh basil leaves if desired.
Notes
- For a richer flavor, let the sauce simmer for up to 2 hours on low heat.
- You can also add a splash of red wine to the sauce for depth.
- For a lighter version, substitute ground turkey or chicken for the beef.
