Description

A delicious recipe for baked falafel served with a creamy tahini sauce.


Ingredients

  • 1½ cups canned chickpeas, drained and rinsed
  • ¼ cup chopped onion
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • ¼ cup chopped parsley
  • ¼ cup chopped cilantro
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • ½ teaspoon baking powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 tablespoons flour or chickpea flour
  • ¼ cup tahini
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 24 tablespoons water
  • Salt to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Pulse all falafel ingredients in a food processor until combined but chunky.
  3. Form into small patties or balls and place on the baking sheet.
  4. Bake for 20–25 minutes, flipping halfway, until golden and firm.
  5. Whisk tahini, lemon juice, garlic, and water in a bowl until creamy.
  6. Serve falafel with tahini sauce and pita or salad.

Notes

  • Adjust the amount of water in the tahini sauce to achieve desired consistency.
  • For a spicier kick, add a pinch of cayenne pepper to the falafel mixture.
