Description
A delicious fall treat featuring apples and hazelnut butter in a rustic galette.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 large apples, peeled, cored, and thinly sliced
- 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
- 1 cup hazelnut spread
- 1 pre-made pie crust (store-bought or homemade)
- 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
- 1 tablespoon coarse sugar (for topping)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 400°F.
- In a mixing bowl, combine the apple slices with lemon juice, sugar, cinnamon, and flour. Toss gently until the apples are evenly coated, then let them sit for about 10 minutes.
- On a floured surface, roll out the pie crust until it reaches a thickness of about 1/8 inch. Cut the dough into four circles, each approximately 6 inches in diameter.
- In the center of each circle, spread a generous layer of hazelnut spread, leaving a 1-inch border around the edges.
- Layer the marinated apple slices on top of the hazelnut spread, slightly overlapping them.
- Fold the edges of the dough over the apples, creating a rustic look by pleating the dough. Brush the outer crust with the beaten egg and sprinkle with coarse sugar.
- Arrange the galettes on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the apples are tender.
- Allow the galettes to cool slightly before serving. They can be enjoyed warm or at room temperature.
Notes
- For added sweetness, consider adding a tablespoon of honey or maple syrup to the apple mixture.
- Feel free to experiment with various nut butters, such as almond or peanut butter.
