Ingredients

  • 1 cup apple cider
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Powdered sugar for dusting

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a donut pan with cooking spray.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, combine the apple cider, melted butter, brown sugar, and eggs. Mix until well combined.
  4. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Do not overmix.
  5. Carefully spoon the batter into the prepared donut pan, filling each cavity about 2/3 full.
  6. Bake for 10-12 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Let the donuts cool in the pan for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
  7. While the donuts are cooling, whip the heavy cream and vanilla extract in a mixing bowl until stiff peaks form.
  8. Once the donuts are cool, use a piping bag or a small knife to create a hole in the side of each donut and fill with whipped cream.
  9. Dust the filled donuts with powdered sugar before serving.

Notes

  • For a twist, try adding a teaspoon of pumpkin spice to the batter for a seasonal flavor.
  • You can also substitute the apple cider with pear cider for a different taste.
